Why I Became a Virtual Assistant: My Journey to Helping Businesses Thrive

Sometimes, life has a funny way of nudging us onto a new path - one we didn’t even know we were meant to take. For me, that path led to becoming a Virtual Assistant, and I couldn’t be happier. But it wasn’t a straightforward journey. It was born out of frustration, a bit of chaos, and the ultimate realisation that I wanted more for myself and my future.

Here’s how it all started...

From Ceiling Collapses to New Beginnings

Back in 2019, I stumbled across the concept of Virtual Assistants and was intrigued. Helping people with social media, organisation, and creative projects - all from the comfort of home? It sounded too good to be true. But life was busy, and the idea stayed just that - an idea.

Fast forward to 2022, and things had reached a breaking point at my old job.

The work environment had become toxic, taking a toll on my mental and physical health. To top it off, the building was unsafe. One day, part of the ceiling literally fell down on me, injuring my foot - a problem I still deal with to this day. Standing for long periods, walking a lot, or doing too much physical activity can cause flare-ups that leave me sidelined for days.

I knew something had to change. I wasn’t just unhappy - I was unfulfilled.

The Leap Into Virtual Assistance

After that ceiling incident (and many moments of frustration), I revisited the idea of becoming a Virtual Assistant. I’d always loved organising inboxes, writing blogs, and creating content for social media. Why not turn those passions into a business?

So, in July 2022, I took the leap and started my VA journey. And let me tell you - it was the BEST decision I’ve ever made.

What I’ve Learned and Who I’ve Helped

Since launching my business, I’ve had the pleasure of working with a diverse range of clients, including:

  • Property specialists

  • Beauticians and skincare shops

  • Cheesemongers

  • Bakers

  • Career coaches

Each business has its own unique challenges and goals, and I love figuring out how I can best support them. Whether it’s crafting social media strategies, creating eye-catching content, organising inboxes, or writing blogs, I thrive on helping my clients reclaim their time and focus on what they do best.

Along the way, I’ve learned so much about social media, website building, and how to adapt my services to meet each client’s specific needs. Every day is a chance to grow, and I genuinely enjoy the variety my work brings.

Why I Love Being a Virtual Assistant

Becoming a Virtual Assistant didn’t just give me a career - it gave me freedom, fulfilment, and the chance to truly help others. It’s incredibly rewarding to see the impact I can make, whether it’s saving someone hours of admin stress or helping their business shine online.

The best part? I get to do all this while working in a way that suits my health and lifestyle. No more standing for hours or dealing with unsafe work environments - just a supportive, flexible setup where I can thrive.
